Sanatana Dharma emphasizes the practice of Nitya Karma—daily spiritual duties that include chanting prayers, performing rituals, and seeking divine blessings. Below are some of the most common and powerful slokas that are chanted daily, along with their meanings.

Karaagre Vasate Lakshmiḥ, Karamadhye Saraswati |
Karamuule Tu Govindaḥ, Prabhaate Kara Darshanam ||


Meaning : At the tip of my fingers resides Goddess Lakshmi (wealth), at the center of my palms sits Goddess Saraswati (knowledge), and at the base of my hands is Lord Govinda (protection). Thus, I begin my day by looking at my hands in reverence.

Gavo Me Mātaraḥ Sarvāḥ,
Gavo Me Pitaraḥ Sadā |
Gāvāḥ Śuddha-Mayā Nityam,
Tasmaat Gāvo Namostute ||


Meaning : Cows are my mothers and fathers; they always remain pure and divine. Hence, I bow down to the sacred cows.

 Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah,
Sarve Santu Niramayaḥ |
Sarve Bhadrāṇi Paśyantu,
Mā Kaścid-Duḥkha-Bhāgbhavet||


Meaning : May all beings be happy, may all be free from disease, may all witness auspiciousness, and may no one suffer from sorrow.

Gurur Brahmā Gurur Viṣhṇuḥ, Gurur Devo Maheshwaraḥ |Guruh Sākṣhāt Para-Brahma, Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah ||


Meaning : The Guru is Brahma (the Creator), Vishnu (the Sustainer), and Maheshwara (the Destroyer). The Guru is the Supreme Reality itself, and I bow down with reverence.

Brahmārpaṇam Brahma Havir, Brahmāgnau Brahmaṇā Hutam| Brahmaiva Tena Gantavyam, Brahmakarma Samādhina ||


Meaning : The food being offered is Brahman (the Supreme Reality), the one who consumes it is Brahman, the process of offering is Brahman, and ultimately, the one who receives its energy is also Brahman.

Namaste Rudra Rūpāya,
Namaste Bhakta Vatsale |
Namaste Ghora Rūpāya,
Namaste Mahādevāya Cha ||


Meaning : Salutations to Lord Shiva, who assumes the fierce Rudra form, who is compassionate to His devotees, and who is the Supreme Mahadeva.

Saha Nāvavatu, Saha Nau Bhunaktu |Saha Vīryam Karavāvahai |Tejasvināvadhītamastu Mā Vidviṣāvahai ||
